1. Walk The Texas Capitol Grounds
The Texas Capitol Grounds is a landmark over 130 years old. It is here that the diversity of culture in Texas really shines. Tourists can visit it on their own and view the information boards located all around the area. Another alternative is a guided tour where visitors can learn about the history of the Capitol grounds. Another reason to go is the architecture. The Renaissance Revival Architecture designed by Elijah E. Myers is a beautiful sight to see in person.
2. Check Out the Paramount Theatre
The Paramount Theatre was established all the way back in 1915. Ever since the theatre has been a historic landmark in Austin, Texas. Few locations contain such a wide array of entertainment. The Paramount Theatre has everything from movie premiers, to the screening of classics, and even comedy and live music.
3. Head to the 360 Overlook Bridge
The view on this bridge is one to remember. The bridge leads to trails with great views of the sunset. The trails also make for a great spot if you’re into photography or making drone footage. It is well worth a visit to see the sunset behind the hills of Austin.
4. Climb Mount Bonnell
Mount Bonnell is a well known spot in Austin. It is a great spot to decompress after a long week. Visitors can enjoy nature while they go for a nice hike. The hike isn’t too long and it offers a chance to check out the Colorado River and the Austin skyline.
5. Paddleboard on Lady Bird Lake
If you’re interested in paddleboarding and kayaking, Lady Bird Lake is the place for you. There’s nothing like getting out on the water with a paddleboard or floating on a hot summer day. You can even take a tour of some key locations around the lake. Places like the Austin Paddle Shack offer kayak tours like the sunset bat bridge tour. This tour lets you see the world’s largest urban bat colony located in Austin, Texas, under the congress avenue bridge.
